Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 12 ounce bag white chocolate chips
- 4 cups rice krispie cereal
- 3 cups pretzel sticks (slightly crushed)
- 1 1/2 cups roasted peanuts
Instructions
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside. This will be used later to spread the candy mixture for cooling and setting.
- Crush Pretzels: Place the pretzel sticks into a ziplock bag and gently crush them using a rolling pin or a heavy pan. The goal is to create smaller pieces while maintaining some texture, avoiding pulverizing them completely.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the rice krispie cereal, crushed pretzels, and roasted peanuts. Stir well to evenly distribute all the components.
- Melt White Chocolate: Transfer the white chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each interval until the chocolate melts completely and becomes smooth.
- Coat Mixture with Chocolate: Pour the melted white chocolate over the cereal and nut mixture. Using a spatula, fold and stir until every piece is evenly coated with the white chocolate.
- Spread onto Baking Sheet: Transfer the coated mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Spread out evenly to about 1/2 inch thickness to allow for proper setting.
- Let Set: Allow the mixture to sit at room temperature for around 20 minutes until the white chocolate hardens. Alternatively, refrigerate for 10 minutes to speed up the setting process.
- Break into Pieces: Once set, break the hardened candy mixture into bite-sized pieces suitable for serving and snacking.
- Store Properly: Keep the Ragtag Candies in an airtight container at room temperature. They will stay fresh for up to one week.
Notes
- For quicker setting, refrigerate the candies for 10 minutes instead of waiting 20 minutes at room temperature.
- Ensure not to over-crush pretzels; pieces should still add texture.
- If preferred, you can substitute white chocolate chips with dark or milk chocolate chips for a different flavor.
- Store candies in a cool, dry place to prevent melting or stickiness.
