Scale
Dip Base
- 2 cups sour cream (substitute with Greek yogurt for a lighter version)
- 1 packet (1 oz) dry ranch seasoning mix (homemade mix can be used)
Flavor Add-ins
- 1 can (10 oz) Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies (or fresh diced tomatoes and jalapeños)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (can substitute with Monterey Jack for a milder flavor)
- 6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled (use bacon bits as alternative or omit for vegetarian option)
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (or chives)
- 1 tablespoon chopped jalapeños (optional, adjust for spice preference)
Instructions
- Cook Bacon: Cook 6 slices of bacon in a skillet over medium heat for 8-10 minutes until crispy. Remove and cool, then crumble into small pieces.
- Mix Base: In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of sour cream with 1 packet of dry ranch seasoning mix. Stir until smooth and well incorporated.
- Add Tomatoes: Drain the can of Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies thoroughly and fold them gently into the sour cream and ranch mixture to evenly distribute flavors.
- Incorporate Cheese and Bacon: Stir in 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese and the crumbled bacon pieces, mixing until all ingredients are well combined.
- Top with Garnishes: Sprinkle 2 tablespoons chopped green onions and 1 tablespoon chopped jalapeños over the dip to add freshness and extra heat.
- Chill: Cover the dip and refrigerate for at least 60 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the dip to thicken before serving.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt.
- Use homemade ranch seasoning mix to control salt and additives.
- Drain tomatoes well to prevent the dip from becoming watery.
- Bacon can be omitted for a vegetarian-friendly dip or replaced with vegetarian bacon bits.
- Adjust jalapeño quantity to control spice level.
- Serve chilled with tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.
